We take a collaborative approach to the planning and design of spaces dedicated to healthcare and wellness. With a focus on local context, community assets, and inspiration, we create healing environments to foster patient, staff, and visitor well-being.

We believe the physical environment of a healthcare setting nurtures and encourages the healing process and enhances feelings of well-being for patients, their families, and staff. By incorporating views of nature, natural light, soothing colors, and therapeutic sounds into the healing environment, we can help optimize clinical care and outcomes for patients; lessen stress and anxiety for loved ones; and foster staff satisfaction, morale, and retention.

Our healthcare and wellness place-making is centered on observing, asking questions, and listening to caregivers to understand their needs and aspirations for a place, as well as their visions for the whole environment. Through patience and persistence, we can turn those visions into reality, creating an aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, and highly functional healing environment.

Director of Design

Russ Combs, AIA

“Having to work through the design phase at a rapid pace, we were happy we selected GLHN as designer for this important project.  We encountered numerous challenges in design because of an accelerated schedule, and due to various owner changes.  However, the GLHN team, led by Russ Combs, worked quickly and effectively to resolve these challenges.  During a short six week design phase, GLHN presented solutions and earned our trust as a capable and experienced parking garage designer. The GLHN team demonstrated a caring attitude toward all owner participants, respecting their contributions throughout the design process.”
