Bill Koller, PE
Director of Mechanical EngineeringBill Koller came to GLHN as a mechanical engineering intern from New York’s Rochester Institute of Technology. He immediately embraced the company culture and climate and has become a valued member of the team, now managing a department of innovative designers and analysts. Over the past decade, Bill has specialized in higher education projects, specifically utility master plans and central heating and cooling systems, and he’s developed a special interest in thermal energy storage. He’s presented on this topic at industry conferences.
While his no-nonsense approach to management is respected by clients and staff alike, Bill also shares his sense of humor and desire for team-building fun. He’s well-known throughout Arizona for Rolling Thunder, a custom smoker on wheels he built from retired central plant parts. It’s a highlight of many facilities staff training sessions and industry networking events.
GLHN recognized Bill in 2018 as the inaugural Employee-Owner of the Year for his many contributions to our company. Not only does he take the lead on firm extracurricular activities like Friday afternoon kickball and barbecue lunches, but he also keeps a close eye on the firm’s output quality and bottom line, ensuring our corporate sustainability.
“Working to design the best solution and solve unique problems is really satisfying. It’s even better if it can be done while sharing a meal of ribs and potato salad!”
