Tiffany Gorrell, Aimee Molleken and Cloriza Lomeli attended the April SWE – Society of Women Engineers, Tucson program and it was an amazing evening to say the least. The program was hosted by Caterpillar Inc. and the attendees got the first tour of their brand new facility. Guests were greeted by the evening’s host and SWE members. The lobby is equipped with the latest in technology including a touch screen table where you can lay down an equipment card and learn everything there is to know about that marvel. There is also a life-sized wall mural of a 793F Mining Truck, see photo.

The program was very dynamic with a panel of women in executive leadership positions. The panel, Jean Savage, Vice President of Caterpillar Inc., Kim Ernzen, Vice President of Raytheon, and Katharine Kent, President of The Solar Store, shared with the group their experiences and perspectives in the areas of diversity & inclusion, work-life balance, mitigating adversity and developing a personal brand. “I was very impressed with all three of the ladies on the panel. They talked about issues that are central to any professional woman in the technical industries; like the need to take risks, the importance of work life balance, and how lateral moves help a person round out their work experience” says Aimee, our Mechanical CAD Tech. “Another thing that struck me is the importance placed on corporate sponsorship towards mentoring. Both how it helped them advance and how they are now helping others to advance as well.”
