GLHN transformed a former vehicle storage facility into a modern City-owned parking structure that enhances downtown Mesa’s identity, safety, and functionality.

GLHN partnered with the City of Mesa to transform a former car dealership storage building into a secure, modern parking garage that supports municipal employees and enhances Downtown Mesa’s vitality.

Our thorough facility condition assessment covering electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire safety, accessibility, and security systems, provided a clear foundation for redevelopment and set the stage for our design and infrastructure upgrades.

GLHN designed innovative exterior improvements featuring shade structures and distinctive screening that boost curb appeal and establish the garage as a downtown landmark, all while navigating the structural constraints of these freestanding architectural elements.

Safety was a top priority for the City, requiring controlled badge-access, high-speed coiling doors, and fire safety measures including vehicle fire blankets, which far exceed code requirements. Though indoor EV charging was restricted due to fire safety concerns, conduit was installed for curbside chargers nearby, supporting the City of Mesa’s sustainability goals.

The upgraded Hibbert Garage now offers convenient, secure parking close to City Hall, serving as a community-focused infrastructure asset that advances Mesa’s vision for a connected, safe, and vibrant downtown.
