A complex engineering project to support the construction of a significant memorial in the center of the downtown municipal complex.
The January 8th Memorial honors the victims and survivors of the shootings during Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ “Congress on your Corner” event in 2011. In addition to the construction of the monument “The Embrace,” this project included renovation of El Presidio Park to properly receive the memorial and greatly expand its use. GLHN provided civil and electrical engineering to the prime design firm for the transformation of the site into the memorial.
