Renovation of existing space into two research labs, GLHN worked with end-users to design environmentally-controlled spaces unique for the study of fruit and house flies.

GLHN renovated approximately 1,100 SF  of existing office and reception space into two research labs to support principal investigators. The new labs house incubators, PCR machines and other equipment for the study of house and fruit flies which are classified as BSL-2 and ASL-2. The labs needed to be separated by a vestibule with interlocking doors to avoid contamination and prevent flies from escaping. While the labs are identical architecturally, each lab was customized to fit the specialized equipment required by the investigator. Our scope of work included demolition of current suite and the architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design of the new labs. This included new millwork, LED lighting, air handlers and associated exhaust fans. GLHN also provided contract administration.
