Project Architect

Location: Phoenix or Tucson

 

Summary:

A Project Architect is responsible for the management of the quality of work performed, client relations, utilization of staff resources, project marketing, representation of the firm, management of the contract, and ultimate project profitability for assigned projects. Assists and advises in a specialized design/technical role and works on several projects concurrently.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Interprets sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD/Revit, SketchUp and other design and BIM programs in development of architectural communication documents of buildings and their components.
  • Provides early phase design visualization support.
  • Assists in the preparation of documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, sections, and details.
  • Has a thorough understanding of building codes, energy codes, and requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and associated documentation including clash detection within the BIM model.
  • Coordinates with internal and external consultants regarding quality and progress of work.
  • Contributes to project coordination and meetings with internal team members, internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Prepares estimates, reviews contractor bids and provides contract administration phase tasks and processes.
  • Communicates and works effectively with other members of the production team.
  • Supports or produces fee proposals and responses to RFQs and/or RFPs.
  • Represents GLHN Architecture to clients and governing agencies.

 

Minimum Requirements:
  • Registered Architect in Arizona.
  • Degree in Architecture from an accredited University.
  • 8+ years experience working as a Registered Architect, preferably in a commercial capacity.
  • Has the knowledge and experience to work on sustainable initiatives on projects.
  • 8 years of proficient working knowledge of discipline-specific modeling software in BIM/Revit for design and document production.
  • Proficient use of general business applications. i.e. MS Office, virtual meeting platforms, and project management software.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior staff and production teams.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong experience managing and coordinating multiple design disciplines, clients and project stakeholders.
  • Experience in Higher Education, Healthcare, and/or Multi-Story Design.
