We are pleased to announce that Joyce Kelly is now a Certified Level 1 Thermographer. In fact, she received the highest score EVER on the exam at the Infrared Training Center.  Joyce is an Architectural Eco-Systems Specialist with a focus on energy efficient design and is currently providing commissioning services at the University of Arizona Honors Village, Recreation Center and Parking Garage.  Congratulations Joyce!  Thermal imaging uses infrared technology to measure temperature.  GLHN employs a FLIR thermal camera to quantify heat differentials in buildings during Facility Condition Assessments and to verify conditions during construction administration field observations.  Our thermal camera also allows us to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical connections and verify proper installation of equipment.  A sample thermographic image of the underside of an eight-year-old is shown below.  The image demonstrates consistent temperatures across the panel with no hot or cold spots except at junctions, where they should be. Electrical tape, in the center of the right hand grid, was used to measure and standardize emittance values. If you have a project you think would benefit from thermal imaging, please let us know.  Joyce can be reached at (520) 881-4546 or jjkelly@glhn.com.
