The new parking garage addition at St. Joseph’s hospital is more than just a place to leave your car, it will be the front door to the healthcare campus. As such, GLHN’s project manager/designer, Russ Combs, created a space that enhances the visitor experience by introducing natural elements such as daylight, views of the sky, and lush landscaping. Custom perforated aluminum image panels were included as multi-tasking elements, serving as wayfinding guides while the saguaros on the panels add another touch of nature. “By introducing elements of nature, we softened the effect of an institutional structure on a campus dedicated to healing and comfort” said Russ. Located in midtown Phoenix, the addition is part of Dignity’s campus-wide parking solution. This DB project is currently under construction with JE Dunn.
