ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SPECIALIST

POSITION:  Architectural Design Specialist – Sustainability Focus

M-F, 8AM – 5PM       Full-time – 40 hrs/wk.

DUTIES: Performs elementary architectural assignments and works from designs of others, compiles data, performs elementary design computations, prepares architectural plans and renderings, and reviews architectural features of structures in the field with a focus on sustainability.  Duties include: Support planning and development of projects, (small and large scope) working under designer, architect or managers’ supervision; Demonstrate general knowledge of building codes and the ability to identify and report potential code violations; Demonstrate knowledge of building systems and materials; Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate multiple assignments; Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material; Research various design components and materials as directed; Produce renderings for project designs as directed; Collaborate with Team Members within the Project Team; Perform redline changes and revisions; Assist in the streamlining of the architectural design process from conceptual design through overall completion of projects; Assist architects in construction drawings of educational, correctional, and healthcare facilities and multi- story residential buildings; Assist in the coordination of building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and associated documentation including; Navisworks clash detection protocols within the BIM model; Designing schematics specialized in space programming and site planning as well as developing of elevations, sections, 3D renderings and architectural details of commercial projects that include medical facilities, laboratories, educational and vocational facilities, and municipal service centers; Following through design development drawings and collaborated with the production staff for technical details and completion of construction drawings; Create three-dimensional building information modeling and two-dimensional construction documentation using software; May participate in the architectural design process and develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to the client for approval; Provide early phase design visualization support. Experience with Rendering in: Revit, Lumion, TwinMotion or 3DS Max; Develop project specifications from master specifications; Assist with bidding and construction administration phase tasks and processes; Participate in the review of product or shop drawing submittals during the construction phase; Scan, copy, print, and transmit original working drawings of current projects; Organize and maintain project files; Perform Acoustic and Daylighting Analysis, Photovoltaic layouts and LEED documentation; Use Energy Modeling software for early building analysis; Recommend acoustic and noise reduction strategies; Support environmental design process to achieve high performance buildings; Assist research, review, summarize local, state and federal codes and guidelines for changes that may impact design and construction including Outdoor Lighting Codes, ADA, LEED, ASHRAE, IESNA; LEED Documentation; Green Benchmarking; Perform Facility Condition assessments with state-of-the-art technology; Assist design integration of sustainable building components and systems; Coordinate with Architecture department and collaborate with other departments to develop Company Intranet.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Architecture – Environmental or Sustainable design (or closely related) with three (3) years of practical experience in architecture; or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with a specialty focus in environmental or sustainable design with six (6) years of practical experience in architecture.  Experience can be gained before, during, and after the degree.  Practical Experience must include at least three (3) years of experience with each of the following: Utilizing AutoCAD/Revit in development of three dimensional models of buildings and their components; Using SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Twinmotion, Matterport, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, V-Ray for SketchUp and for 3DsMax, MS Office; Illustration and Energy software such as Energy 10 and eQuest.
