Carlus Kilgore, AIADepartment Manager Architecture
Carl Kilgore knows that the A/E/C industry is transitioning away from traditional construction documents and into a world of data-rich digital 3D. As an early adopter of technology, he’s been instrumental in advancing digital production at GLHN. In addition to leading the way with the Revit BIM system and optical and infrared scanning, Carl also continually researches cost effective advances in drones and laser systems to keep the company’s data collection ahead of the technology curve. He works on BIM optimization routines and content to improve the design process and on construction documentation quality control for healthcare and laboratory projects. He also leads the firm’s BIM/CADD user group.
Carl functions as the architecture department manager, and in that role, he recruits new hires and develops training sessions for what is becoming known in-house as GLHN University. He brings his decades of experience in designing healthcare, educational, commercial, retail, and foodservice projects to his position as a project manager on key healthcare projects, including the Lyndon Baines Johnson Tropical Medical Center in American Samoa. He led the design team in providing several successful hospital improvements in an extreme environment—a tropical rain forest receiving 122 inches of rain per year.
“GLHN is a unique interdisciplinary office that actively engages in internal training and education across the disciplines of architecture, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. It makes for a highly collaborative team, resulting in positive outcomes for our clients and their projects.”
