The University of Arizona Health Sciences Building 201 Renovation was one of three projects selected as a finalist in the New Construction & Development category.  The MPA Common Ground Awards event honors projects, community leaders, and programs that have made significant contributions toward bridging divides and finding solutions to complex challenges in creative ways.  The committee recognized the unique collaboration exhibited by the design team and owners for this project.  The 201 building is owned jointly by The University of Arizona and Banner Health, requiring collaboration on the Owner side that is atypical for a University of Arizona Design-Build project.   The Design-Build team included GLHN Architects & Engineers, Sears Gerbo Architecture, and Lloyd Construction Company.  This 5-story building was renovated over a span of four months on a fast-track schedule utilizing multiple crews, working around the clock.  Despite all of the challenges, the “dominos fell pretty well,” said GLHN Architect Brian Hagedon, ultimately resulting in an early turnover of the fourth and eighth floors to the Owner.  The winners will be announced at the awards dinner held at Starr Pass on October 19, 2018.
