The Greater Tucson Fire Foundation has invited GLHN President William Nelson, PE to serve on its Board of Trustees. Mr. Nelson is honored to serve on the Board and will assist the Foundation in establishing educational programs for area firefighters. The programs – to be facilitated by the firm’s architects and engineers – will focus on the technical aspects of building design as they relate to fire and fire prevention (air pressure, fire alarm systems, etc.). A basic understanding of how building systems are designed and installed will arm firefighters with additional knowledge when responding in emergency situations. The Board is also initiating an Emergency Resource Program to establish agreements with area professionals to provide active and retired firefighters with emergency aid or assistance on an as-needed basis (legal, financial, specialty care, etc.).
The Greater Tucson Fire Foundation is dedicated to assisting the greater Tucson fire community with funding, tools, technology, advanced training, equipment, survivor’s help, public education campaigns and human services to support these brave men and women as they serve and protect the citizens of the greater Tucson area.
