GLHN Architects & Engineers, Inc. recently held an All Staff Retreat at Lodge on the Desert in Tucson.  The retreat focused on the results of an employee survey prepared by the GLHN ESOP* Communication Committee that took the pulse of employee-owners and their feelings about the current state of the firm.  Leslie D. Porter, SPHR, was engaged to facilitate the retreat and help guide the exercises and activities.  Retreat goals included strengthening the firm culture and updating the future vision of GLHN.  Round table discussions were held about topics the survey showed were of greatest interest and included communication and accountability. An engaging part of the retreat featured 5 in 5 presentations (five slides in five minutes) from each department on adopting emerging technologies.  The sky was the limit and suggestions included touch tables, 42” desk monitors, and virtual reality platforms.  The afternoon focused on GLHN’s future: recently announced changes in leadership, the development of future leaders, growing the firm, and most importantly, embracing the ESOP culture.  The retreat concluded with employee-owners  signing a newly developed ESOP Declaration.  “It was a fun and useful time to imagine our future together,” said Cloriza Lomeli, member of the ESOP Communication Committee.
